1970s

In 1970, Dr. Fine founded the General Medicine clinic, an outpatient clinic that that provided healthcare to underserved populations; in 2016 it was officially renamed to the Richard H. Fine's People's Clinic.

 San Francisco General Hospital received its Federal Trauma Center designation in 1972 and has held this designation ever since.

In 1974,  Dr. Fine founded the security ward at SFGH, It was the country's first medical and psychiatric clinic for jail inmates.
